Die-cut: cut all the way through
The blade goes through the vinyl and the backing paper, so the sticker is the shape. This is the one you hand out or sell: a logo silhouette, a character, a shape with no border. Because the backing is cut too, there is nothing extra to peel away.
Kiss-cut: cut through the vinyl only
The blade cuts the sticker shape but leaves the backing intact, usually as a square or rectangle around it. Easier to peel, easier to mail, and the backing can carry a printed message or your logo. Best for stickers that ship inside packages or go in a stack on a counter.
Sticker sheets
Several kiss-cut stickers on one backing sheet. Cheapest way to get a variety, and the natural format for planner stickers, product labels applied by hand, or a set you sell as one item.
Finishes, and where each one belongs
- Standard white vinyl: the default. Full color on an opaque white base; works on any surface.
- Clear: no white background, so the surface shows through. Good on glass, bottles and light packaging. Anything white in your art will print as clear unless you ask for a white ink layer.
- Inside-mount: printed in reverse and applied to the inside of glass, so it reads from outside and stays out of the weather.
- High-tack: stronger adhesive for textured, low-energy or dusty surfaces like coolers, toolboxes and rough plastic.
- Static cling: no adhesive at all; it holds on glass by static. Removable and reusable, right for seasonal window signs and parking permits.
- Holographic: a rainbow shifting base under the print. Big for merch and packaging that wants to catch the eye.
- Reflective: bounces headlights back like a road sign. Use it on vehicles, trailers, helmets and safety gear.
- Glow-in-the-dark: charges in light and glows in the dark. Exit paths, kids' rooms, night events.
- Double-sided: printed on both faces for glass, where one side reads inside and the other outside.
Stickers by use
Bumper, laptop, cooler, bottle, countertop, floor, wall and motocross stickers are the same cut choices with the material and laminate matched to the surface. Floor stickers get a slip-resistant laminate; bumper stickers get a laminate that stands up to car washes and sun.
Artwork tips
- Send a vector file (PDF, AI, SVG) if you can; the cut line follows the shape exactly.
- For die-cut, keep the shape simple at small sizes. Thin spikes and hairline details do not survive a 2 inch sticker.
- Add 1/8 inch bleed outside the cut line and keep anything important 1/8 inch inside it, same as any print.
